Team Toolster

Sascha Steinbrink, Engineering Manager - Apr 25, 2023

Hi there! 🙂

Glad you found our team page. In the next paragraphs we will introduce ourselves and show you why it's fun working with us. Let's get started.

Who we are

We are team Toolster. Currently we consist of eight people including an agile coach, a product owner, an engineering manager, four developers and one working student.

We are quite international. There is the svelte fanboy Ă–mer with Turkish roots, the Polish-born Dawid who has a sixth sense when it comes to finding sprint or team names, our newest team member Enrico from Italy, our guitar hero from France, Julien, Sebastian the hessian tinkerer from Bavaria, the laughing bag Domenic, our long sleeper Luca and since every young team also needs an old hand, there is me, Sascha.

One fun fact about us: every meeting in our team starts with Ă–mer asking if he can go first, regardless of the topic.

What we are doing

We develop and maintain the practical tools that are used by many different departments here at Thomann, like the ones used to bring our webshop to life. We work on topics like rich content creation, banner creation, translations and so on. We basically are the tech version of a Swiss Army knife, plus the fun!

How we are doing it

As we are spread all around the country and beyond, we are working fully remote. Multiple times a year we meet each other in person for team-events, doing retros or having a beer (or two) at the Thomann Summer/Christmas party.

We are working with SCRUM using two week sprints. Rather than following every SCRUM principle in detail, we only take what is working for us. After every sprint we do a retro to reflect on the last two weeks and to figure out if everything worked fine or if we can improve our workflow. What matters most: the team decides! Every opinion counts and at the end we agree on something together.

Our tools are written in PHP, Laravel, Vue3, Typescript and TailwindCSS using the latest versions. We use Storybook for our design system and Vite as the build tool. For testing we are using PHPUnit, Mockery, Vitest and recently we added e2e tests using CodeceptJS and Playwright.

Why choose us?

Our job is awesome! We work on many projects using the greatest and latest tech stack available, so it never gets boring. If you find yourself at ease with our technologies, you are passionate about developing practical tools and applications, and you like to work in a team where your ideas are valued, then let's talk!

P.S. Have you noticed who we introduced first?
